There's just something special about a handcrafted timber speargun, the look, the feel, the way it holds in the water, its recoil absorption, it's special... but its much more than that.
When a master craftsman has spent hours shaping a select piece of hardwood into a finished work of functional art its said that the piece takes on a certain energy throughout the creative process, perhaps even taking on the energy force of the craftsman, hold an Aquagat Timber Classic and you will understand this immediately.
A handcrafted timber speargun with the most beautifully shaped classic lines, finished in pure Tung oil with your favourite colour-way grip and fittings the Aquagat Timber Classic truly is a work of functional art.
The Timber Classic hardwood base is crafted from carefully selected and refined New Guinea Rosewood selected for its exceptional use in marine applications and its stunning aesthetic.
We choose select Rosewood as its durability in historical boat building has been tested over centuries and we much prefer the colour of this beautiful hardwood.
When underwater and the sun hits the stock it glows intense iridescent golden browns and honey orange tones, its really quite something to behold. This, combined with the modus operandi of 'The Aquagat Difference' led us to choose Rosewood over the more commonly used Teak for the Timber Classic series.
The Timber Classic is very versatile in that builds like the Timber Classic 80 are used for hunting in dirty water in close quarters situations while the Timber Classic 130 can be amped up with 3 X 16mm bands and take down absolutely anything that comes within 7.8 meters of it.
The Timber Classic employs our 'deep track' build philosophy and comes in either an open or enclosed track variant, your call. Peep the 'Timber Classic E.T' section for a more detailed description on this line.
The open track option allows shafts from 6.5mm to 8mm and comes stock with a 7.1mm stainless shaft.
A significant recent upgrade to the Timber Classic and Timber Classic Carbon E.T models has been the introduction of fully adjustable ballast points both at the muzzle and the grip ends of the speargun.
By simply unscrewing the two phillips head retainer screws of each holding plate you are able to access the ballast pockets where you have the ability to add or remove lead weights to find the perfect ballast for your chosen preference.
The rearward adjustable ballast point is especially handy when adding or removing a reel as the spearguns balance in the water can change fairly dramatically when doing so, and of course you can now also tailor how the gun tracks and further absorbs recoil by making adjustments at the muzzle point.
The style shaped stock of the Timber Classic is designed to hold the bands inside the gun at the muzzle end as much as possible which decreases surface area and increases agility/assists in helping it track very efficiently whilst also keeping the line of sight as open as possible.
Fitted with stainless 304 M5 threaded inserts you can also fit the Aquagat 'Keep-It' reel in under a minute and the stainless line guides are set up and in place for some REEL fun!
One of the benefits of a timber speargun is that the mass of the stock dramatically reduces recoil, but that's not enough for us at Aquagat.
We took this a step further and designed our grip and palm placement to be up and 'inside' the stock as much as possible which significantly further reduces recoil.
Not only do these design specs make pulling the finger lever of the Aquagat Timber Classics reverse trigger mechanism a breeze, but more importantly it creates a stable shot, and a stable shot combined with our 'deep track' spec combine to create the most accurate shot, after all, what's power without finesse.
As with all Aquagat spearguns, the Timber Classic series all come with the ever reliable, ultra strong and smooth Aquagat reverse trigger mechanism.
With our unique wide finger lever design, precisely designed high tolerance sears, silky smooth finger feel even at the highest loads and housed inside the machined stainless steel casing there's really nothing this mech can't handle.
Finished in multiple deep saturation coats of pure Tung oil and fitted with the Aquagat Turquoise colour-way components as stock the Aquagat Timber Classic is the real deal, beautiful, powerful, precise and very special.
Not only that, you can also choose from one of almost 20 colour-way options and counting so get funky!
